Why does my pinky suddenly hurt and throb for no apparent reason?

Hi there,

This evening I was sitting down watching a movie after a relaxing day when suddenly I got this very sharp pain at the very tip of my pinky. I've had no trauma to it and I have long natural fingernails so really the very tip of my finger is not that accessible to even a random bang. After about an hour of the sharp pain it began throbbing relentlessly, my heart now lives in my pinky finger I am convinced. So now I am left with the constant throbbing and waves of sharp pains, akin to someone driving a nail straight down into the tip of my nail.

After three hours and two naproxen sodium tablets, with no relief whatsoever I went to urgent care (It's Saturday night of course haha) I felt stupid going in there saying "my finger hurts" but this pain is truly intolerable. This is coming from someone that refused to go to the doctor when I had pancreatitis claiming it must be a stomach bug lol. The Doctor at the office really couldn't do much in the way of diagnosing, however he did do a digit block on it which helped soooo very much. After an hour though the pain was back and now my fingertip down to my fingernail are extremely sore to the touch. Another thing I noticed is every once in a while the side of my hand tracing straight down the outside of my pinky itches.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. BTW I am Diabetic, I don't know if this matters but I have no pain or sensory deprivation in my feet as of yet. Also this is my right hand and I am right handed.
