Worried =[

by NattieBaybee_x, Nov 13, 2008 02:38PM
Im 15 years old and ii am quite short at about 5ft3 weighing between 7 and 7 and a half stone. My diet is pretty normal. However ii experience a headache mostly everyday which comes on throughout the day, it comes on with a sharp pain and sometimes goes off for about 5 minutes, ii have had these headaches for quite a while now. Im very worried about them, and it stresses me out, ii worry that there is something wrong with me and ii get upset about it. Ive been to the doctors about it twice now, and ii had a blood test about a month ago which came back normal. I then stopped worrying for a period of time, and they went away. But they came back again which made me worry even more. I also had an uncomfortable pain behind my left eye and by my temple at the same time, but that went away after a day or so. Im constantly thinking and worryin about them, and they occur mainly on the left side of my head, sometimes on the right and on top of my head. I dont drink much at all, and Im always on the computer. At 15 ii shouldnt be worrying about things like this. My doctor checked my blood pressure and she said it was fine, and she said my symtoms seem more like a tension or stress headache. Even though ii have had blood tests and been checked out by the doctor, ii still worry so much about it. I sometimes take nuerofen when ii get the headaches, but it doesnt always seem to work. Please help me, ii just need some advice, and some suggestions on what it could be. Also if you experience these symptoms as well please tell :)

Hello,

Your symptoms are pointing towards the diagnosis of tension headache.
A tension headache is the most common headache.A tension headache generally produces a diffuse, usually mild to moderate pain over your head. Many people have the feeling to having a tight band around their head.

Try OTC medicines like aspirin or acetaminophen. For headache pain that cannot be controlled with pain relievers, antidepressants, beta-blockers, or anticonvulsants may be prescribed. Use a cold compress to the area of pain, rest in a room with little or no sensory stimulation (light, sound, and odors) and withdraw from stressful surroundings.
Also get your eyesight checked as constant computer use can cause visual field changes and hence headaches.If possible give a break to using computers and also while using computers,after every 15 min,take a break be closing your eyes and washing them with fresh water.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.
