Worried about Excessive Vaginal Bleeding

by slcoley, Dec 23, 2006 12:00AM
November 13th I started what I thought was my normal monthly period. However, it did not stop, and it only got worse.  I was having to wear three pads at a time to contain the blood and changed the pads about 4-5 times throughout the day.  I was passing large clots constantly (some the size of golf balls).  I went to the dr, and they did a papsmear, blood work, and ultrasounds both normally and vaginally.  They said that there is something in the lining of my uterus, but it could be many things. (They said it could be a blood clot, or it could be POLYP, or it could be PPOC.) Two weeks ago, they put me on birth control pills.  I was told to take 3 pills a day the first week, 2 pills a day the second and 3rd week, and 1 pill a day for the last week.  I was supposed to go back for the results of blood work.  However, it has only been two weeks since first taking the pill, and up until 3 days ago, the bleeding did stop.  Now it's back and I'm passing clots AGAIN.  Is it normal to be bleeding again so soon?  Should I wait another two weeks for my normal appt or should I call to be seen sooner?  I don't think it's normal to bleed for a month, be on the pill, have it stopped for only two weeks, and then start back up again..  Can someone help??

your period starts on day 1 of a cycle and usually last 5-7 days however prolonged bleeding can go on continuosly (mine was 9 months ) evry 28 days a new bleed starts regardless of weather the last finished or not . it is normal to bleed close together and pill does control it you need to give it a few months to settle into normal pattern. x x x

I would tell you its not normal to bleed heavy - my gyno said you should worry if you bleed to much inless it runs in the family - when he means to much he means waking uo in a puddle of blood - you may have a cyst of some sort. Just a suggestion
