Wounds that don't heal

At the beginning of summer 09, I was cleaning out my car and pricked my pointer finger on something. It bled decently, but I just stuck a band-aid on it and figured it would just heal. it's now January 2010, and it healed up fine. There's no scab, just skin. But any time the slightest amount of pressure is applied, it hurts and almost throbs. You can see a faint dark spot under the skin and feel something underneath. I'm not sure what this means or why it didn't heal. So if any of you could help me out and lead me in the right direction, I'd be entirely grateful. It hurts a decent amount and it's on my left pointer finger and I play guitar and it has proven to be difficult because it hurts so much. But I don't know what it could be.

This seems to be a blood clot that have been settled down with out escaping out during the process of wound healing. It could be taken out by simple excision of the wound by any Doc and let it be dressed with proper medication that it would heal properly under medical observation. You may be prescribed with Heparin or Coumadin injection which will restore the clot. There is nothing much to be worried as these clots doesnot cause much complications as they do not communicate with the large blood vessels..

You may have a piece of dirt or something that the cut healed around, and this is why it hurts.  That needs to come out before an infection starts, so see your doctor.  It's not a big deal.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
There is a chance that there is a flint of metal or something below the skin which results in throbbing pain on pressure. Please consult your PCP and get this examined. If this is something very superficial your PCP can pull it out.
Hope this helps. Take care!
