A possible bowel obstruction could be the culprit of abdominal pain and distension. A doctor should listen to your bowel sounds to rule out a blockage. However the pain would send you to the ER. The swelling in your feet and legs is unlikely to be related to a distended abdomen. Feet and legs swell when standing for long periods of time, have a weak heartbeat, high blood pressure, fluid retention due to high salt intake and summer heat. Poor venous blood return in the legs can be treated by wearing compression stockings and taking breaks to elevate legs. Diuretics can offload fluid and may be taken only when swelling occurs. Please see a Dr. as soon as possible to rule out anything more sinister. Well wishes to you!
Well, sounds like a trip to your doc wouldn't hurt. The legs swelling can be a sign of fluid retention which can be caused by several things. Also the abdominal swelling and pain may or may not be related to the constipation. If you have been having diarrhea and now are constipated with no relief with stool softeners, then by all means, have it checked out., You didn't list your age.
I suffer from chronic severe constipation and think lately, I am back to more normal stools with the use of prescribed medication for constipation. I also am cutting down on my pain meds so I can stay more alert and feel less "laggy".... pain meds constipate most folks!
Hope you get an answer from your doc! Keep us posted
