Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is an Apico lordotic view that allows a clear view of the apices of the lungs (top most portion of the lungs). This portion is obstructed by collar bone in normal view. A particular position called lordotic position will have to be taken by the patient when the X-ray is being taken. In recent years because at times the patients find it difficult to bend in that angle, CT scans have over taken this view.
Hope this helps. Take care!
