I'd look into the three types of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. From Vascular Web: "Venous TOS is distinguished by swelling in your entire arm, plus pain and dark discoloration. Arterial TOS presents with pain, coldness, and a pale discoloration of the hand. Cramps occur when using the arm for activity."

Venous TOS was my problem. Physical exertion triggered muscle spasms in the neck, which impeded my circulation.

With respect to heat being a trigger, you may also wish to research Erythromelalgia.

And if you're doing strenous exercise, you may wish to read about Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome.

Mountain Bikers refer to something called "Armpump" which might be worth reading about, as well....

Good luck!

It could be high blood pressure which would cause that, but there are also many other things. I get the bulging veins in my arms and hands when I work out and get very hot but I do not get pain, it is pretty common to get this when working out.

Since you are having pain with it it is usually recommended that you consult a doctor ASAP so that you can be sure its not something serious.
