I am a 16 year old male. For about 6 months now I have been getting sharp pains on and off in the left side of my chest. The pain is slightly above my left nipple and lasts about 10 seconds or so. Sometimes I also get short of breathBreath alcohol test Breath holding spell Breath odor when this happens. The pain can also sometimes be felt in my left shouler blade and under my armpitArmpit lump. I also get tired really quickly, even from just walking about 7 minutes. So far I have been to the ER several times and I have had numerous ecgsEcg Electrocardiogram (ecg) Exercise stress test Post myocardial infarction ecg wave tracings, blood tests an echocardiogram and chest x-ray's. I am currently waiting for a stress test. All the tests are normalNormal saline flush so far and nobody thinks it's coming from the heart. The pain happens quite a few times during the day. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Also I am 5'9 and weight 111 pounds (approx 51 kg) I am really worried that it could be something serious.

Chances are that you have esophagealEsophageal atresia Esophageal cancer Esophageal culture Esophageal perforation Esophageal tissue culture Gastroesophageal reflux disease Gastroesophageal reflux in infants Tracheoesophageal fistula repair - series reflux (GERD), where the food in your stomach is thrown up into your food pipe or esophagus. This also causes burning sensation or discomfort in the chest area. Another possibility is hiatal hernia, where a portion of stomach herniates into the chest cavity through the diaphragm. This along with chest discomfort cause shortness of breath too.
Pleurisy or inflammation of the lung wall too can cause these symptoms but since you do not have a history of cough, cold and fever, the chances are less. If you have a suggestive history then this needs to be further investigated by a chest specialist. Pulmonary embolism is another possibility causing shortness of breath with chest pain.
Another possibility is costochondritis (inflammation of the joint between rib and sternum. The inflammation around the joint area gives sharp pain on taking a breath. This can also cause tenderness on pressing the area which pains. An orthopedic doctor can diagnose this for you.
Since you become tired easily get investigated for anemia, which can also cause chest pain.
I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
