children with bleeding hemroids

Our son had regular bowel movements daily, like clockwork. He came to us with blood in the stool, and on the kleenex, and the stool being a little tarry/almost black . After a visit to emerg, the doctor said he had a hemmroid that was bleeding and sent him along with suppositories to settle it. He did have some lower abdominal pain, dizzy, pale, and from time to time complains of nausea the last couple of months (of course with children, it's ..are you hungry, are they procrastinating with bed time.....)
I do not want to make light of his symptoms now that he has had this bleeding.
He is only 11, eats healthy, drinks lots of fluids, and does not get constipated. I don't understand why a child of this age can have this problem.
Any ideas?

I noticed that my 4 year old had one pertruding from his bottom today straight after a bowel movement. When I checked later on it had disappeared. He doesnt go to the toilet everyday.Do you think that I should be concerned or take him to the doctors?

I wouldn't let this go.  It sounds like typical dismissive treatment from the ER doctors.  They are trained to focus on one thing, and not look further.  Your son may very well have developed a hemmorhoid from straining, and why needs to be addressed.  He might have some kind of intestinal growth, polyps or blockage.  Even parasites, which are common but no one like to admit, can cause such symptoms.  Hemmorhoids don't cause all the things your son is feeling.  He needs a colonoscopy, and don't let the doctors talk you out of it with their condescending "I am God" attitude. Chart his symptoms carefully, and bring it with you.  It will help your argument that something is not right.

I know it seems wierd hemroids in kids, but my 4 year old has one, it does bleed but  more than anything it pokes out of his little buns and hurts him. I bought the tucks medicated pads and they really help him. He doesnt have any other symptoms like your son, so make sure you follow up with his ped.
