chronoc pain

by linda.l.silva@gmail.com, Jul 05, 2007 12:00AM
Almost 9 years ago I developed ARDS after developing Pancreatitis after an ERCP.  Is there such a thing called post ARDS syndrome?  I have not been well since in 98 I was in a coma for 8 weeks. I had several surgeries including debreadment of nacrotic tissue in my pancreas. i had a trache. I had multi organ failure and blood clots. I recovered rapiddly once sent to rehab. I never fully regained my strength even after Pulmanary/cardio rehab. I had many set backs and hospitalizations Incisional hernia surgery Psuedocyst of the pancreas. In 2001 I developed severe Bacterial Pneumonia luckily I didn't need to be intubated.
I have tried PT to build strength but, the last time I went they told me it was doing more harm than good.  One morning in 2003 I woke up and wasn;t able to bend my joints very painful. I went to the ER they couldn't find anything. I was told I either had Neuropathy or Fibromyagia. I had an EMG test a couple weeks later and told it wasn't Neuropathy.
I have been going to a pain clinic in Boston since 2003. I still haven't gotten better. Some days I can barely move. The pain clinic does urinalysis almost every visit 3months. It makes me feel like a criminal. I am taking Vicadin 750 every four hrs. It isn't working anymore. I have tried many Antidepressants that didn't work. But, they don't seem to listen to me when I tell them how bad my pain is.  I have had Gout in the past and recently think I have it again. If I call my primary he will send me to the ER I hate going there they treat me like I am just looking for drugs. I feel like wearing a sign saying I did not get pancreatitis from drinking or drugs. Also I sit and wait for hours to be seen.
Someone else that survived ARDS was told she had post ARDS syndrome have you ever heard of it/

Thankyou,
Linda

Oh Linda, I can only understand chronic pain.  Sorry, I know nothing about ARDS. Several years ago I did have pancreatitis. In hospital for weeks. The cause was my gall bladder had stopped functioning and removal would guarentee no more pancreatic attacks-one was enuf for me.   The chronic pain I am now experiencing is from a fractured back (car accident). I have had 9 actual back surgeries and unknown amount of other 'procedures'. They still knocked me out and worked on my back.  On June 11th of this year, I had a spine stemulator inplanted. Wow, what a difference!  I have been able to cut my oxy's from 160mg 2x a day to 80 2x a day!  I still take about 90 percs a month...I'm getting there. Now I have been diagnosed with a incisional hernia. UNCLE ALREADY!!
I pray that you have the strength to keep searching.
