continue stomach and bowel problems

by Peggys problem, Jan 08, 2006 12:00AM
My mother had throat cancer some years ago.  She got cemo and radiation, rather than the operation.  She still had to get the operation after her treatments because it didn't get it all.  She could not swollow well because it hurt so she was given a g-tube in her stomach to get her dietary needs.  As time went on scar tissue formed in her throat and she had to have a tech put in her throat.  She was able to eat a little, but now she eats nothing because it hurts or unable to get it down with out asperating.  Her g-tube site has always given her problems with pain and drainage.  She now focuses on her bowels.  She says she has to go but nothing.  Her doctor has sent her to 3 specialist in g-tubes.  They say it is placement is fine.  They have x-rayed her stomach and everything is fine.  Her doctor has done blood work, upper GI ( which she could not swollow all the fluid )it showed nothing, urine test (nothing).  Her doctor had her see a psychologist and he ssid nothing mental is wrong with her he thinks maybe a piece of cancer may have broken off during surgery.  I forgot to mention now my mother is in a nursing home following a stroke.  my mother is 69yrs. old.  Lately she has had ferquency with having a feeling she has to go to the bathroom all the time.  This has caused her to be agitated, irritable, anxious, contiually climbing out of her chair every 2 mins.  This is not her at all. She has dealed with her situation quite well. She has been having also alot of drainage from her g-tube, looks like bowel(brown) or greenish.  They say it is nothing. She is in alot of pain.

I am constipated all the time. I have had 2 colonoscopy's & 2
endoscopy's. Nothing was found to explain it. Whenever I take any kind of laxative(over the counter, or prescription)within
half an hour my rib cages & back hurt where I cannot sit comfortably. I am also bloated all the time & have a lot of pressure in my lower stomach.

It sounds like gallstones, which can be controlled and haled just by a low fat diet.  If you drink 2 cups of pear juice and 2 TBSP of apple cider vinegar at the onset of an attack, it will take it away.  Also, you could go right into an olive oil/lemon juice cleanse, which breaks them down.  If you drink lots of apple juice, this also will help.  All the best!  Feel better soon!
