crackling noises in veins on head

What causes you to have crackling noises in the veins on you head when pushing or dragging your fingers across you scalp? I've noticed these symptoms about 5 years ago. I was diagnosed as diabetic and had high blood pressure. My a1c is 9.4 and last BP was 140/72.

It started as a mild crackling sound whenever I dragged my fingers across my scalp. If I didn't do this I usually ended up with a mild headache. It felt like a small sandbag on my head. Its gotten worse over the years. Now I must press harder on the areas where I feel pressure in order to "clear" the pressure buildup. If I don't do this now, I often get a sharp pain wherever the pressure was.

Now its gotten to the point where I go to bed afraid of these sharp pains. I'm afraid they might be clots, strokes, or aneurysms. I have to sleep with my pillows at a steep 45 to 60 degrees (never flat). I'll start on my back until I feel an uncomfortable pressure, then I'll turn to my side until I feel the same. I'll go from side to side until I fall asleep. If the pressure builds up to much I get the stabbing pain.

I've talked with my doctor about this and he thinks this is a neural problem. I insist that I feel pressure within my veins, but he continues down the neural path. He would like to deaden the nerves around the problem areas.

I need another opinion. Is this the right path?

Ooops!  Temporal arteritis  fits your symptoms better.  Still altho it is rare to find it under the age of 60, there have been some around the age of 40 who manifested this symptom.  It can cause small strokes - confusion, unable to come up with the right word,  a temporary numbness on one side or the other... etc.  Sudden headaches or vision changes also fall into this category.

sorry about the wrong wording earlier.

btw I lived in Tulare for about a year...

I know there was a thread already started on this topic, but it was from 2009. I hope there's been some advances since then. Are there any professionals with advice?

My Total Cholesterol is 194, Triglycerides 156, LDL Cholesterol 105, HDL Cholesterol 48. All in acceptable levels except for Triglycerides; which is over by 6 points. Does Atherosclerosis still fit here?

Sounds like atherosclerosis.  I would see a vascular doctor before getting shots in the head.

Let us know how you fare.
