difficulty breathing

by xdawnx, May 23, 2009 07:16AM
Hi i really hope someone can shed some light on whats going on here for me!
Just over a year ago i had my tonsils removed because theyd been infected for about a year. a week after the surgery i started feeling a bit shaky and weird and my breathing didnt feel right...it feelt a bit of a struggle. so i went to my doctor and he checked my throat and said everything was fine and i didnt have an infection. so my throat healed anyway and my breathing just kept getting worse. Now a year on i constantly feel like my breathing isnt 'right'. these are some of the symptoms i have ...
Dizziness every day all day,
Head pains (had an MRI recently which the neurologist said came back normal)
Stomach pains and a lump appears in lower right stomach which is very painfull and still un diagnosed.
About a month ago i started feeling like my throat and chest was blocked and couldnt swallow properlly along with a sharp cold burning feeling in my lower throat and chest when breathing in and out.
My heart beat often feels very fast, hard/or not hard enough, fluttering, skipping a beat.
Sometimes it feels like my head and chest is going to explode it just feels all blocked and i can just feel my heart beating very fast and hard in my head if that makes sense.
I also get moments where i feel very hot suddenly and it makes me feel very very sick!
Also i feel like my chest is very tight and often irritated and i have to gasp a little to get a breath. also very simple things like making the bed, making a cup of tea, hoovering makes me VERY out of breath which scares me alot.
I saw an cardiologist who did an echocardiogram scan of my chest (and never told me the results) and also wore a 7 day ecg monitor. He said it looked ok to him and that if i gave up smoking he would run some more tests.
Im currently trying to give up smoking but in the mean time im very scared and doctors dont seem to know whats going on at all! sorry for the long writing i just hope someone knows what this could be!
Thankyou.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
There are a few possibilities you must explore. Irritable bowel, diverticulits, Chron’s disease and Ulcerative colitis must be investigated, since you have a painful lump in lower right side and stomach pains.
Having said that I would also say there is a possibility that you have gastric reflux or GERD.
Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.
You could also have developed allergies which can only be diagnosed by an allergy panel.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
