I am not taking birth control pills and I am quite active unless I am on the computer. The day I discovered the vein I had been working in the yard for about six hours and had just come to have a cup of tea and relax.
It may be unrelated, many years ago I flew to another city for business and as I was walking back to the hotel at night. I was approached by a panhandler so I started to run. I felt a strange sensation in my leg and great pain. I hobbled back to my room and the next morning saw the hotel doctor. It was very warm to the touch. He said he thought it was "deep vein thrombosis" and suggested crutches. I then flew to another city. The pain didn't stop so I went to an ER and the doctor said he thought I had snapped some muscles when I started running and like a rubber band they had curled up where the heat and pain was. Then I flew home and told my own doctor who said nothing. Maybe I shouldn't have been flying.
Again doctornee has honed in on the (possible) problem. Doctornee gets points.
If you are on birth control pills get off them IMMEDIATELY.
Stay well-hydrated (with electrolytes) and exercise frequently. Not necessarily push-ups. Just don't lie around.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Once in a while a vein may get engorged due to a clot or plaque blocking the flow of blood or it could also be spasm of the vein. In females the commonest cause is birth control pills. A duplex ultrasound is able to capture any problems in the flow of blood. Since there was warmth, it was either a clot or mild inflammatory process that settled down with Tylenol.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
