a week and a half before for this my daughter had some of the same symptoms but no swollenSwollen glands lymph nodes she is almost 11 yrs old and when Her dr saw her rash he said it could be fifths disease in older children they dont always get the slapped cheek look... which her cheeks were pink but not red... once the rash appeared she started feeling better the rash hung around for several days after she felt 100% better.... I never thought this could have had anything to do with what I had
Well low and behold Now my 7 yr old has fifths disease with NO DOUBT!!! he has the classic slap cheeks and the rash!
So now this has me wondering ( my lymph nodes are still swollen I might add but rash is gone) Did I have fifths disease and could it have caused the lymph nodes in my neck to swell?? I still have the headache and I have joint pain... and I am still congested and coughing.. My lymphnodes appear to slowly be going down but they are kinda painful... Could I have it too?? any advice?
Fifth disease is one of several possible manifestations of infection by parvovirus B19.Although a disease of children,it can occur in adults also. The only difference is that apart from other symptoms, uncomfortable joint pains and swelling of the joint may be present.
Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection along with other numerous causes. It can occur as a result of viral infection with parvovirus also.Apply cold compresses, take over the counter anti-inflammatory analgesics(pain killers) like acetaminophen or ibuprofen and antibiotics if cause of infection is suspected to be a bacteria.
For normal healthy adults and children, this disease is self-limiting and will resolve with no problems in a few days.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
