gaging cough

I have a bad cough that causes me to gag and come very close to throwing up.  It seems to start with a tickle which causes me to cough.  Its not deep down near my lungs, this is in the area of gaging.  I have had every test in the book.  they couldn,t find a thing.  They finally put me under so that they could go into my throat and esopagus and even into my stomach and came up with a clean bill of health.  Please help

Thank you so much for your responce.  It does seem like if I turn my head to the side, this will cause me to respond with a cough.  also at night if I lay down on my pillow in a horizontal posision this causes me to cough really bad.  I did have an alergy test like for cats and dogs and differant grasses etc,  that came back negative.  After I had the endoscopy, everything seem to clear up for about 2 years.  Amazing,  I thought that would be the end of that, now its back.  I seem to be doing a little better since I gave up the cough drops, but I still have that problem.  On occasion it feels like something is caught in my throat which causes me to gag.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Cough that starts with a tickle can be either due to allergy or it can be due to gastric reflux. You have had an endoscopy and got a clean bill of health regarding reflux. However if the muscles of food pipe are not too lax, it can cause the reflux to occur in certain positions only or with some food items only. You should take a food allergy test along with a skin test for other allergies to rule out allergies. Also you can take OTC Omeprazole and see if this helps. Cut down on caffeine, alcohol, smoking, fuzzy drinks and spicy food and see if this helps.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
