Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is difficult to diagnose a fracture without an X-ray and clinical examination. Apply cold compress and take an anti inflammatory. An X-ray is required to decide the course of treatment. If there is no fracture then anti-inflammatory pain killers help bring down pain and swelling. Usually simple knuckle fractures are treated by using a splint and taping the injured finger with the adjoining finger. Surgery is required if there is alignment problem, angulation problem or displacement of the fracture ends. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
I would have it x-rayed as soon as possible, if it is broken, you certainly do not want it to stay that way too long as it could eventually go into arthritis.
you could have broken it or you could have just brused the bone. i think it would be best if you go to hospital and have it x-rayed. you should try some painkillers to help with the pain. you should put your hand in a bowl of cold water with ice cubes to help reduce any swelling inside or outside the skin. good luck.
