head tingling then head and ear went numb... now.....

First it started when my head felt very tingly-then it went numb-then my left ear went numb and I felt VERY cold. Then the other night while I was sleeping I had an itch on my head and went to itch it and slapped myself in the face because my right arm and hand had gone numb-I shook it and then it went very tingly and feeling started to return. The whole next day my right arm felt sore and sometimes it felt like a squeeze with a warm feeling and tingling in my fingers.NOW...my head has gotten VERY itchy, I notice some redness on parts of my scalp and it's VERY flakey. I've never had problems with dandruff but this is crazy it's like snow in my hair.I don't know what's wrong. I went to the ER the day that my scalp went numb-they weren't sure why- said it could be the start of shingles but too soon to tell.Did CT scan- normal- and said that I should follow up w/ my doc and schedule an outpatient MRI.I went to my doc the next day for follow up(BEFORE THE ARM WENT NUMB and before the itchy and flaking started on my head-THAT'S NEW SINCE MY VISIT WITH HIM)- He didn't want to order an MRI like the ER suggested. He also said he's not sure what's causing the scalp numbness but didn't want to do an MRI now.He said to come back for a follow up appointment in a few weeks so I have no answers.Oh... also since my appointment with him I've noticed glands swollen on back of neck and have been getting some headaches on and off. The headaches aren't severe- I've had worse headaches in the past- but worth mentioning. I've also been feeling VERY TIRED and my neck is sore. Any idea what's wrong?

I have similar symptoms. I am male, in my late 30s, in general good health otherwise.

It all started a month ago during sex, right before ejaculation. I felt a rush of blood to the head, followed by a slight headache on the left side. The headache took a couple of days to fully dissipate. Since then, I've been experiencing "hot flashes", some occasional numbness near my left ear, some tingling in my little fingers, and also some tingling in various areas of my head. Ejaculation seems to be a trigger, but straining when passing gas also affects me now.

I went to a doctor a couple of weeks later, and he said I had to get a CT scan to rule out a hemorrhage, but the doctor at the hospital said since I looked fine otherwise and that I didn't have a bad headache it can't be all that serious. He still ordered an MRA, which I'll be getting in a couple of days.

I've been searching the web with no clear answers so far. Sometimes I think it might be a pinched nerve, other days I think it might be a slight hemorrhage, either way I want this to stop!

Help!!!

Hey tingly, hope that you don't have to wait long to see a neurologist - my appt isn't until June 20 - I haven't wanted time to go so fast since I was 16 years old! he he - Good luck - hope you get the answer soon.

KC - yeah, I am kind of frustrated...I keep finding all these things and having new symptoms.  Recently, I talked to some relatives and they said I have history of adrenal gland and pituitary gland problems in my family...well, needless to say, i was at the doc's office the next morning at 7:55!  We did a renin test and cortisol test...depending on the outcome of those, I guess we go from there.  Will have those results mid week because of the holiday.  Recently, though - other than the numbness and tingling and sleep paralysis, what bothers me more than anything is my memory.  I absolutely hate being in a social situation b/c I am in mid sentence and forget what I am saying - have even forgotten what I am thinking WHILE I am thinking it!  Got home this evening and checked my voicemail and then went to delete message and forgot how to do it....that kind of scares me. I am going to mention that to doc when i see her mid week....this is all getting so tiring - I pray all the time - I really want to be a more active mom for my son - I do what I can - I go to all his ballgames - and he is so understanding .."mom, you don't have to go to my game if you feel bad.." It breaks my heart.  I always go and cheer him on...ok - going to stop now - sort of having a pity party for myself this evening...Take care!

Thank you... Yes, please let me know how your doctor visit turns out.  For me...this is relatively new.  I've been having these symptoms for about a week.  Hopefully I won't have to wait a year to find out what's wrong... You MUST be VERY frustrated...   Sounds like the swollen glands are in the same place.  I have a swollen gland on my left and right side of my neck-just below my hairline.  I hope you get some answers soon.  Next time I see my Doc- I'll ask them to test me for Lyme disease and B12 deficiency too.  Thanks for your reply!!

I have some of those similar symptoms as well.  Today, my lips are numb.  I have had numbness on my left side including my face and have headaches and also a swollen gland on the left side of my body in the back just beneath my hair line.  I had an MRI about six months ago - came back fine - but symptoms have only gotten worse and more frequent.  I can understand your frustration - my doc keeps telling me..."Let's keep and eye on it"....what the heck does THAT mean?!?!?!?!  Anyway, talked to a friend of mine today - she's an anathesiologist (not sure how to spell that one!)  but she said that with those symptoms I should push to see a neurologist.  So, I will go to doc this week and ask for a referral as well as tests for lyme disease and B-12 deficiency......I don't know about you, but this has been going on for atleast one year now and I am started to get worried and frustrated.  Maybe you should try another doc too?  Wish I could help - I will let you know what the result of my visit is this coming week - Also, I've had some itching problems too....isn't it strange how alot of us have the same sort of symptoms....For me, it really helps to have this place to come too - atleast I know that I'm not crazy and that I'm not the only one!
Hope you find the relief you need soon!
Peace, Charley
