headaches, nausia, extreme Fatigue.....Undiagnosed for months...

by mmj1472, Nov 05, 2009 08:50PM
I am an 18 year old Female. I was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in August. It had gone undiagnosed soo long I almost died from it. It damaged my liver and my white-count. Both have recovered. I had started to feel better but I swear I have fallen ill again. I've had head-aches for about a month....I rarely get a break and if i do its no longer than an hour. Sometimes its soo bad I want to beg for real painkillers. I have nausea, and I get soo tired soo easily. One day I vomited 3 times, and the next I had a clear diarrhea. I have chest-pains and trouble breathing. I occasionally get a cough. I have spent $300 at my current doctors for them to tell me to wait it out. I have ruined my first semester of college being ill. I have been fatigued to debilitating points since August. I can't take it and want someone else's help.

I'd ask around for recommendations of a better doctor if I were in your shoes, and check them out on vitals website for what kind of school they went to, when they graduated, etc.  I wonder if those docs you went to would wait it out if they were having all your symptoms?  I highly doubt it.

I asked them the same...and they pretty much told me medicine can only do so much.

I went to the E.R. last night I was in soo much pain and ended up seeing one of the doctors I had already seen. I did finally come out with some real medicine for my headache....but he's still clueless about why I am so sick.

If these headaches are new, did they do a cat scan/MRI?  Did they check your iron level to see if it is low (not just a CBC)?  Have they recommended you go to a GI doctor?  How is your stress level?

They did a ct scan...but found nothing. I dont believe my iron was checked only my CBC. Im not sure what a GI doctor is...? But no I haven't recieved any referals to anyone.

I am really stressed because of the illness...but I wasnt stressed enough to make myself ill.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
After reading through your posts I feel there is a possibility that you could be suffering from inflammatory bowel condition such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, Celiac disease (gluten intolerance), lactose intolerance or IBS or irritable bowel syndrome.
There is a huge possibility that the painkillers you take have caused severe acidity, gastric reflux and headache. A GI doctor or gastroenterologist or the doctor who looks after our gut is the best person who can help you with this.
Since you have a headache almost daily, what you have could also be a chronic daily headache (CDH). This can be the primary type—without any cause. If the headache lasts for less than 4 hours then it could be a chronic cluster headache or a chronic paroxysmal hemicranias. If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua.
The CDH could also be secondary to trauma, raised intracranial hypertension, high blood pressure, cervical disorders like pinched nerves, temporal arteritis etc. Pinches cervical nerves can also cause nausea along with headache. This can happen due to overuse of computers, work involving straining of neck, canal stenosis, bone disease, spondylosis, poor posture etc. Since you are a student, this has to be looked into. A neurologist can help you with this. A MRI may be required.
The best thing would be to consult a general practitioner or PCP and try and assess what is the cause of your problem. Then proper referral for concerned specialist can take things further and get you proper treatment.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
