help I've jumped!!!

Can anyone help me? My son jumped out of a treehouse today, and when he landed his feet broke a wooden slat in a wooden palate. He was in excruciating pain at the time, but seemed to get better. Then later on he could barely walk on the foot and now it is a little swollen an it is burised on the side, but my main concern is there appears to be a knot or large bump of some kind on the side/bottom of his foot. Do you think his foot is broken?? I am debating between going to the emergency room or waiting till morning and going to the doctor, so any fast help would be nice. Thanks very much!

I hope your son is doing better at this time....A brusied foot is very painful..I know from experience...but please remember...your feet have more bones in the body than any other part and they hold up all the weight for the person....Sometimes it is best to take them to the doctor and get the proper wrap for the foot that will make it heal faster...with so many bones in the feet a micro fracture could take months to heal without proper attention.  Let me know how he is....
