help with profuse sweating

by perseus54, Aug 05, 2008 01:38PM
About 2 months ago I started profuse sweating for no reason.  These are not Hot Flashes as I have had those and know the difference.  I break out in drenching sweats at least 20 times in as many hours.  They go from sweats to chills because I am wet.  I also had swelling and extreme one sided pain along the entire right side of my neck.  It has gotten better.  All thyroid blood tests inclusing the super testing all came back normal.  All my blood work has been normal.  During this, I also got a viral infection with sore throat and fever for several days.  I also developed a lesion on my toe that none of the docs had seen before.  I cannot sleep and when I "go to bed" I wake up tired.  I have rhuematoid arthritis also.  I cannot live like this and am about to give up.  These odd sweats happened for the first time about 4 years ago and were never diagnosed.  After about 9 months they went away, to return with a vengence.  I cannot be the only one with this.  I could start drenching sweats in a 55 degree room.  I am afraid that I have lyphoma and will have a CT scan with contrast tomorrow.  Does anyone have any ideas?

I have always had the sweating symptoms, but i noticed that i'd be perfectly normal, but the minute i had any or heard of anything bad or stress related here it comes. My head sweats so bad and i have bangs so i have to carry a towel or believe it or not put my head into the freezer; but the best thing i found is sitting right in front of the air conditioner, which is by my computer and i eventually cool off.In the meantime i have to blow dry my hair at least 3 times and i still feel hot. My grandmother had this and the Dr's said there is nothing you can do,which i don't to this day believe. I feel sorry u have this too and the only thing i can recommend is put a blowdryer on cool until u feel less sweaty, then sit in a cool place, say a few prayers, and try to put any anxiety out of your mind until u feel better.   realqt
