I would suggest that you not eat hot dogs if you are feeling nauseous. Try something very easy to ddigest, like crackers and non-carbonated fluids. If you have medication like Phenergan, it can be very helpful in dealing with nausea. After vomiting, it is not wise to eat a hamburger. Once again, eat very light and easy digestible foods. Be sure to stay well hydrated by drinking tea, juice, broth, and other clear liquids. Jello and popsicles are always a good choice too. If it continues, it would be wise to consult your health care provider. It could be something erious or it could be nothing to worry about. You need this reassurance from a physician.
If this problem just started today, it could just be a stomach virus or food poisoning from something you ate yesterday. If so, you'll probably feel better tomorrow.
If you've been throwing up all day, your nose and throat are probably burning because you are mainly vomiting up stomach acid. Try eating bland, liquid or soft foods for the rest of today. Nothing spicy or solid. I would also probably avoid dairy products. Maybe try some Saltine crackers (preferably the "low salt" version) or some chicken-noodle soup (the kind that is mostly broth and noodles, like Campbell's condensed). Some plain white bread may help too. You could look up "bland foods" on the internet for more ideas.
If you are still feeling sick and throwing up tomorrow, even on bland foods, I would call my doctor.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The burning of throat and nose could be due to exacerbation of the GERD. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes. You will need to take a combination of medications like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried.
Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Maybe these tips will help you.
Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If all the above tips do not help, consult your doctor.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
