Hello,

Thanks for writing. How is your husband now?
Ankle dislocations occur when significant force applied to the joint results in loss of opposition of the articular surfaces. Rest the ankle and give him some anti-inflammatory analgesic like ibuprofen.

Also in cases of ankle dislocation, spints, casts ,traction and manual reduction may be required.Pls discuss these options with your husband’s orthopedician. Also, dislocation of the ankle joint is rarely seen without an associated fracture. So an x-ray or MRI of the foot is required to confirm whether it was a dislocation or fracture ankle.Pls get it done to clear any doubts.

In any case, a dislocated ankle requires an average of 3-6weeks to heal completely.Till then adequate rest should be given to the part. Some severe cases may take months to heal. This depends on the extent of injury to ankle.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
