sounds like excema. I have it and it causes me to have itchy patches of skin that can become patchy from over scratching and can also get irritated from all the scratching and become rashes. they have OTC medicines but a good excema cream prescription works wonders. ask your doctor if it might me it. common locations for excema to be most noticeable is around your joints like around your elbow and behind your knees.

Hey there, I have had the same problem for about 15yrs now and have had every test and diet available. I have even tried meditation and lotions, powders, creams etc and nothing works. It began not long after i had a miscarriage and I've heard some people say similar, although I did meet 1 girl who said it happens to her grandma and uncle and she's had it since birth. For her a cold shower/bath helps although for me that just burns. To help I use sorbalene cream instead of soap and Alpha Keri oil or Oilatum (both from chemist shops) in bath or shower. They are water dispersable and feel nice. I avoid nylon, tight leggings and generally wear soft cotton pj's. Use non-bio clothes detergent.
I found that none of the steroid creams or anti-histamine medication ever worked and let me tell you I really have tried everything!
Before I knew about the oils and sorb. cream I had episodes that would have me curled up in bathtub seriously suicidal. It hasn't gone completely but it is manageable now!
Also I found moving to colder climate helped, I was living in Australia and now I'm in Ireland. A bit extreme but I don't get as itchy or as often!
Hope that helps.

It may be just severe dry skin. Try a strong lotion like eucerin or keri. Put it on right after your shower to seal in moisture. If you feel no improvement after a week of this, I suggest seeing your Dr.
