Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Well based on your post it does look like a heart burn. However it could also be GERD or acid reflux. Hiatal hernia is another possibility. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals. Your husband can take several small meals in a day. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. Hope these tips help you. If not then please consult your PCP. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
He used to smoke but hasn't for the past four years. He has had alot of trauma to his body because he used to work with cattle. He drinks alot of coffee and coke which I think is one of the causes of heartburn but he also eats spicy foods. He just cant seem to eat anything healthy. I wouldn't know if he has or has had any other problems because he doesn't like to see the doctor. The only reason he saw the heart specialist is because he had a chest pain and he blacked out. So his whole family made him go because he is very hard headed. He doesn't drink or do drugs. He has no food allergies that I know of.
