i've lost myself

This all started about a week ago, but im terrified.  Im 18 years old and last week at work i suddenly had a strange feeling almost like i was drunk or high.  My vision became blurred and it took me a second to realize where i was. I went to a minor medical that day thinking that maybe it was low blood sugar or something the Dr diagnosed me with "headaches".  The next day at work my symptoms re-apeared.  I became frighten and went to the ER.  After 7 hours at the ER i was diagnosed with a sinus cold and given a z-pak.  I felt something worse was wrong because i had just got over a sinus infection and i had already taken a z-pak.  My mom's doctor got me in and he was the first person to understand what i was trying to say.  He felt they it could possibly be seizures.  That night i had an episode that was really bad.  I knew what was goin on but i had aches and all of a sudden i felt a rush of fear.  My vision became blurry and it even took me a second to realize that it was my boyfriend next to me.  My heart was racing and i could feel my face twitch.  It was like i was in someone else's life.  Nothing seemed real.  I would try to bring myself to speak and i couldnt'.  Anyways after about 20 or so minutes it went a way but ever since that i have not once felt like myself.  Everything feels fuzzy and i can remeber everything from that day but its like i almost don't.  Im living in the moment and even 5 minutes ago doesn't seem real.  I went to see a nurologist and he felt that it wasn't seizures.  Honestly i don't know what to do anymore.  I can't remember the last day i felt like me.  I feel like im loosing my mind and no one seems to understand.  It scares me cuz im always tired, my body feels heavy, and i have aches all the time.  Everyday is the same and it all melts into one....i jus need some encouragement.  Nothing like this has ever happened before.

Your symptoms are very similar to mine. I was diagnosed 4 yrs ago with fibromyalgia. Widespread aches, extreme fatigue, sleep issues. The cognitive issues that some people experience with fibromyalgia is known as "fibro fog" or "brain fog". The onset is typically sudden, even down to a specific day. Of course, there are many possible causes of your symptoms, as others have suggested. But you should consider seeing a rheumatologist to rule out fibromyalgia as one possibility. Good luck!

I think that it might be panic attacks...i have that panic feeling atleast 2 times a day and luckily yesterday i kinda found a way to control it...i just slow down my breathing and sit somewhere by myself.
Ya my mom's cousin and my cousin are both blood relatives on her side....SCARY...

The EEG went ok, however the neuro will look at it tomorrow and i guess i'll find out the results sometime next week.  My mom has even suggested an MRI but he said it wasn't necessary.  I did take a CT at the ER and it came out normal.

Im ok...its just the none stop spaced out feeling that i really hate.  i feel like im loosing my mind and no one seems to understand.  Its weird cuz its like i almost only live in the moment....the rest of my day is always foggy and most of the time if i go somewhere i almost can't remember how i got from place to place.  I look fine on the outside but i know that something is VERY wrong.  Im trapped in my body....no one has answers and its discouraging...ya i know it hasn't been long but im fearfull that im stuck in this crazy state of mind.

>>thanks for your concern...it really helps to have someone to talk to....

That's good to hear--even if it was just a panic attack, it's better to have it checked out by a neurologist just to be sure. Is your mom's cousin a blood relative? If so, then it's more likely seizures run in the family, but if he/she isn't, then you likely don't have what he/she has that is causing the seizures.

How did the EEG go, and are you feeling any better? An MRI might be more useful in this situation, but the neurologist won't likely order one unless he/she suspects a neurodegenerative disorder or a brain tumor of some sort.

you know the same thing happened to my uncle everything to the T. My uncle was even at work when it happened and his doctor thinks he is having panick attacks he is now on medication. Wow though that must be scary i can kindof picture that happening to me and i would be terrified. Good Luck to you girl I know it is hard to find great doctors out there i wish you the best and i will pray for you that a great doctor comes into your path. Sometimes thats what it takes is that one special doctor to  figure things out and he/she will be heaven sent. You know this is nothing to play around with your condition is serious anytime it affects your mind/head it is serious. Like I said I will pray for you is it chelsea?

It sounds like you had a panic attack. Did your mom's doctor put you on any medication/order any tests, or did he just refer you to a neurologist? I'd be surprised if he didn't order an MRI when he thought it might've been a seizure. An MRI would be the smartest and fastest way to go if you want to rule out abnormalities in the brain. A sudden onset of symptoms, like you had, sounds more hormonally or chemically induced, though, as opposed to being indicative of a brain tumor. You could potentially be suffering from anxiety, especially if you did experience a panic attack of sorts.

What is your family history? Do any autoimmune diseases run in your family?

Keep me posted and let me know what happens--I hope you feel better soon!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Without examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but some of th possibilities for your symptoms are panic attacks(a response of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The most common symptoms may include trembling, dyspnea (shortness of breath), heart palpitations, chest pain (or chest tightness), hot flashes, cold flashes, burning sensations (particularly in the facial or neck area), sweating, nausea, dizziness (or slight vertigo), light-headedness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), sensations of choking or smothering.) , atypical petit mal seizures , BPPV(benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) , meniere’s disease(o you feel any ringing sensation in the ears) , TIA(transient ischemic attacks) and endocrine disorders(like thyroid, adrenal glands, and pituitary gland disorders).

Pls discuss these possibilities with your doctor.Thorough investigations are needed to rule them out.

Hope it helps. Take care and pls let me know what your doctor says.In case you jhave any additional queries, pls let me know.
