liver lesion

hello, i had recently gone to the hospital for a fever and lower back pain on my right side. i ended up having a kidney infection but they also found a lesion on my liver. they didn't give me any info on it so i'm worried and clueless. i plan on going to my family doctor as a start but i would love to here any info on this problem, how does it happen? is it from drinking alcohol? what are the diagnosis's linked to it?
thank you everyone.

I would get your liver enzyme readings from your doctor. You need to follow up on it but like others have said, it could be something benign or more serious so you need to see a doctor, preferably a liver specialist (Heptologist)

He can check for a whole variety of liver problems.
Drinking is a very bad idea with a liver lesion. I'd stop that all together. You need to get to the bottom of the lesion situation.

i do suggest to follow up with your family doctor, er docs, usually refer you to another physician to follow up with incidental findings, but sometimes not, it is left as the responsibility of the patient. im sure youll be ok. good luck.

i had the ultrasound first then a cat scan, they found the lesion in the cat. they where just trying to find the source of my pain, which was the kidney infection then just happened to discover the liver problem. i have been drinking more than i should in the past year so i'm worried if that caused it, and if not what did and how do i go about dealing with it.    is this something that is considered serious?

sometimes liver "lesions" or "masses" appear in some organs, could range from benign tumors, fluid filled cysts, or even cancerous tumors. dont begin to get worried, most likely it is benign or cystic in nature. was it a cat scan or ultrasound, what does the report read?
