I have an alkaline phos of 147, sgot of 70, sgpt of 77 - doctor has prescribed a liver ultrasound. I am concerned about what could be causing these lab results. I am asymtomatic but have been overweight and have lost weight many times. Could this be caused by gallbladder disease?

Actually alkaline phosphatase at 147 is at upper limit of normal and SGOT and SGPT is also marginally high. It could be due to repeated weight gain and loss. It could also be due to fatty liver (can be caught by ultrasound). Nothing to be worried about as such, unless you have some symptoms like indigestion, yellow urine and sclera of eye, pain under ribs etc. Take care!
