I woke up yesterday morning with a small lump on the back of my neck. it is a little larger than a pea, and it is sore ( not too bad though) i do not have a sore throat or cold or any other symptoms. what could it be?

It is probably a lymph node. Since it is sore it is a sign of infection. If you still have it in a few weeks or it starts to get bigger you will need to go see a doctor.

Take care,

My daughter had a lump on the back of her neck and it was a swollen lymph node, most likely left over form a prior cold.
