lumps

I have found little lumps underneath my skin in my arms in more then one spot.  When you mess with them they react with discomfort.   I found them in my for arms.  The other day I saw one in my left upper arm in the mirror. It was quarter size.  What could this be?  I have had nerve and muscle pain for quite awhile.  I was diagnosised with Type 2 this past spring.  I am on no medication, instead I am controling it with diet.

Simple put, what would the lumps be that are under my skin that can be felt?  Is there anything I could or should do for it?

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Such lumps could be due to neurofibroma (collection of nerve and fibrous tissue) or lipoma (localized collection of fat). Generally they do not require treatment. In diabetes small localized collections of fatty tissue develop under skin where insulin injections are taken. This is not true in your case.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I am also curious about the same issue some Indian friends in one family have. Diabetes runs in that family as well. They have lumps under their arms. I wondered if it was a type of thrombosis or phlebitis.
