muscle aches for months....

Has anyone ever heard of viral lasting 6 months. I started with what seemed like a viral infection in August. Heaviness in arms, chest, legs, achy, headaches, then in September I started having twitches. Then in December all gone but all over twitches mucles aches started, in left leg now it is in arms and legs. They ache constantly like I have flu. Still twitching. I have had mri of brain, mri of spine, ct scan of neck, chest obdominal area, all sorts of blood work very low lyme, with equivalant western blot, (treated 4 weeks antibotic) I have had 2 emgs, seen 2 pulmonoligist, 2 neuros, rumitoid dr., infectious disease, chiropracter, 2 primary dr.s, All show nothing that would cause symptoms. They say maybe non active sarcoid, but they say they does not effect muscles. Neuro says maybe I had viral that is now into muscles. It has been six months 10 days. My muscles ache like I have the flu and it was just in left leg for 2 months and then with in 2 weeks went to other limbs. Any Idea's????

Hi, Just wanted to tell you that I had terrible muscle weakness and pain for months.  Finally I was diagnosed with Thyroid disease.  First test came up fine, 12 months later tested positive for underactive thyroid.  One week on synthroid and ALL muscle pain was gone.

So maybe you should have blood test for thyroid.  Hope this helps.

The only other thing I can think of is to get tested for food allergies. Also, you can test negative for Celiac Disease, but still have an intolerance to gluten. I did check online and found out that that some physicians' believe that food allergies/intolerances can cause muscle twitching (as well as the other symtpoms you listed).

Consider doing what my physician made me do once: go without dairy products, sugar, gluten and anything with corn or cornsyrup (includes ketchup) for AT LEAST 2 weeks, if not longer. You could also try two products for the first 2 weeks and then 2 other products the following 2 weeks. Gluten is found in everything... definitely go to websites for people who suffer from Celiac disease and get helpful tips first from them if you are willing to try this strict diet. You will have to look at EVERY label for everything you eat. It will not work if you have the slightest amount of gluten, sugar, etc. in your diet.

Also... you should talk to your physician first before trying this. Once I re-introducted gluten back into my diet, I found out that I had an intolerance or allergy to the gluten, because an hour later, my symptoms returned. (btw, I also tested neg for Celiac disease).

Good luck !

I would get tested for Celiac Disease and if the test is negative, then see a physician who diagnoses and treats CFS and/or fibro. He/she will need a copy of all of the labs and other diagnostic tests you've had done in the past.

Good luck !
