mysterious crawling itchy skin

this feeling started in one particular spot on my left palm. i would itch it and it would itch worse while i scratched then would go away only to come back shortly. then a year later i felt it in my foot. then to my leg then gradually over a few years my skin has begun to crawl all over. i dont know what this could be. it doesnt feel like bugs under my skin but more like somethings microscopic. it is a very strange crawling itchy feeling that appears constantly at random places around my body. most notably around my feet, hands, face and ribcage. i truly is scary and mysterious to me. does anyone else feel this way or know what this might be???
