nails turning red

I noticed a few days ago that the lunula on both of my thumbs is turning red.  I have checked the internet and it says that it could be related to heart disease.  Could it mean anything else, or perhaps, nothing at all?

Thanks, I would appreciate it.  I did go and see my regular dr.  She looked at my nails and then listened to my heart, again, but didn't really seem too concerned.  I am hoping that it's just nothing, but kind of worried still.

This is a good place to start with your dr. and get tot he bottom of your nail abnormalities...there are many systemic diseases related to nail malformations, ridges, change of color, splitting, peeling...and many are indicative of more serious underlying systemic issues. Including the heart. I have an excellent bookmark regarding this if you like...
