neck pain/ strange noise

by battery, Jan 07, 2006 12:00AM
Hi, I just replied to camden 73's question regarding the strange noise that she reported was coming from her throat, I too have this and unlike her I have suffered jaw/neck/chest pain for the last 2 to 3 years, I feel this noise has something to do with the pain I am experiencing because it's been there for about as long.I think this noise is coming from somewhere below the neck and above the waist line and as with camden73 it happens when I bend at the waist, swivel at the waist or move shoulders down from side to side, you asked her if it happens when her head and neck is left looking forward and she swivels, that's a yes for me
it's very loud and even more audible when my mouth is open, I have showed this to my local G.P and he accused me of breathing when infact it was just the sound echoing out of my open mouth, could this sound be coming from the lungs or spine or somewhere else? I am sick to death of being shuffled from specialist to specialist for this neck/jaw/chest pain so far they have checked my ears, sinusus, numerous blood tests, jaw x-rays, neck x-rays, dental x-rays, you name it if it's above the neck they've looked at it, but I feel the pain may just be extending upwards from another region, I asked my local G.P if something lower could be causing it ie. lungs or spinal problems and he said no? well I've read differently, what do you think? I have since had a lung x-ray and a spinal MRI which I am awaiting the results of but won't get them until mid march. What do you think could be causing it?  and thank-you

Did you ever find anything about this out?  I have the same thing and have for about 2 years.  If you know anything at all, I would really appreciate any information. Thank you!

I have the same sympotoms as you describe. the noise when you move your shoulders, and the noise is louder when your mouth is open and my son said the same thing to me  "your breathing loud" how annoying....
I have been recieving physio because i injured my neck at work he said i have a straightening of the spine caused by the injury..The noise is damaged tissue (corrigated) rubbing against each other. Hope this helps
