neck twitch/blackouts/bad symptoms... HELP!!!

by miaispirazione, Apr 14, 2009 09:28PM
For the past few months I've been getting this weird twitch in my neck, it happens randomly and makes my head jerk. I start to feel dizzy randomly and get these weird blackouts, which last for just a split second and usually happen in a series, during them I can't see and I feel like I'm falling. I've had migraines my whole life, but they have suddenly gotten worse. I've been having heart troubles this year, this has also gotten worse. I'm having trouble socializing, I constantly feel like talking to people is the last thing I want to do. I have never been like this. I've also been having memory loss.

I looked up some symptoms and found that I have 30 out of 35 symptoms of Huntington's Disease. I have no family history, so the chance of the gene mutating on its own is low. Also, I'm a teenager, which makes the disease even more unlikely. The chances of me having this disease is one in a million, but its the only one I can find that fits.

I haven't mentioned it to my doctor because I don't want to look paranoid, I'm doing my best to hide this from my friends and family. I really don't want anyone to know. Someone please tell me what's wrong with me.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
First of all discuss with your family and doctor. They are your first line of support and nothing can replace the help and support they can provide.
You could be very anxious. Anxiety precipitates a number of symptoms. In your case I feel it could be a case of ‘ocular migraines’ or ‘ophthalmic migraines’. These produce headaches along with visual symptoms ranging from static vision to temporary loss of vision. Please discuss this possibility with your doctor. Normally, ophthalmic migraines do not require treatment. But if these symptoms recur regularly then you may need medication to reduce the frequency and/or severity of attacks.
Another possibility is neck strain as in prolonged computer use. This can cause dizziness, headaches etc. Stress can precipitate twitches.
This also looks like an episode of transient ischemic attack wherein the blood supply to brain is temporarily cut off. The episodes last for a maximum of 24 hours and then resolve or a new symptom starts.
Please do not ignore your symptoms. Consult your PCP. Don’t worry, everything will sort out. I do not think you have Huntingtons.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
