nerve pain

I get a pain around my right side groin area and my skin hurts too. It only lasts for a couple of days and then it goes away. It happens about once a month. I've had a hysterectomy.

I presume you mean scar tissue pulling because of the hysterectomy?

That is a possibility depending where the cut was made when taking out the womb.

It would also depend on how long ago the hysterectomy had been done.
Pattie does not say that she feels any pain along a scar where she was cut when she had her hysterectomy.

Cuts to the body can take a long to settle down and can sometimes cause sticking and sensations of pulling.

You may have a condition called meralgia parasthetica.  This is pressure on a nerve that causes this pain and also you will feel pain or numbness on the skin.  If you are overweight, the only way to stop this, or from it getting worse is to lose weight.

Groin pay can also indicate osteoarthritis in the hips.

I would suggest you see your doctor so that he can evaluate and find what is causing this problem.

Best wishes.

Hello, Pattie.  I am so sorry you have this strange pain.  You say you had a hysterectomy - did they remove both ovaries?   They left me my left ovary.

Just wondering if it might be hormonal since you say it happens once a month.  If you still have an ovary on that side, that would explain it.

Otherwise, perhaps it's a coincidence that it happens once a month and it could be a "pocket" from diverticuli that gets just a little inflamed - like an appendix.  Do you get diarrhea with it?  Or are you constipated?  What about fever?

If you do have symptoms other than a little pain, please see your doctor.  A high-fiber diet can help with diverticuli. - My mom takes Metamucil every day.  Personally, I prefer to eat lettuce, spinach and the like.

         Wishing you the best
