numbness in hand

Two days ago I was bitten on my left forearm by my friend's girlfriend.  After the bite, my left hand went numb from my index finger to my thumb.  I woke up this morning and have regained feeling in my index finger, but am still experiencing numbness in the thumb region.  Should I seek medical attention or will it heal by itself?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If there is infection and pain, then this should be treated immediately. The second possibility is that the bite hit a nerve and the nerve is probably under shock. This will heal in a day or two. Massage the area and exercise the hand. If this does not improve circulation and feeling then consult a doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

If it does not go away in a few days, you should seek medical attention. A tendon may be injured or cut, whick may require surgery to fix.

This sounds like an interesting "missing piece story."

You were sitting there, minding your own business, when your friend's girlfriend decided to put a little salt on your arm, place her mouth on your left forearm and bite down hard.

It happens every day.

It will probably heal.

It will heal by itself, seems like she bit HARD.
