operation on umbilical hernia

will an operation on a ruptured navel improve the appearance of the distorted navel

I have one and was told when its done it will look normal and I can get my belly ring back and where short shirt, etc again. I am 46 and 4 yrs ago had a baby and before her I had a belly ring and was fine, having her at my age cause the belly rupture. I am suppose to lose some weight though before my surgery.

Yes, plastic or cosmetic surgery as it is called, reconstructs a damaged navel. Consult a surgeon regarding this. Take care!

THANK YOU. I did mean NORMAL.  Better than now,my children call say it now looks like "a lump of dough" on my stomach,following the hernia.....

When you say "improve the appearance" do you mean make the cosmetic looks better? I am only asking because (by my fault) I don't understand exactly what you mean. If you are asking if your navel will literally look better, then I would say it's up to how the doctor finishes it all up. It don't hurt to let them know that when they are done, you would like it to look as "normal" as possible. They can only do what they can though, so you might have to see a plastic surgeon about this if they do not make it look as well as you want it.
