Thanks so much for the post and all your suggestions I will defentily show my mom what you have told me. My mom said that she is going to make this situation a more detailed investigation, because she is very worried and Im so glad you took the time to write back to me your the only one who has. Now it is getting worse and not only does it hurt when Im laying down or running but also when I get up in the morning for about 2 hours. And lately I have been having joint pain in both my wristes and left knee which has just started not to long ago. It is very stressful and painful and I've had to stop doing gym in school because I can not run. I just wish the doctor Iam seeing had a defenite answer for my joint and left side pain. It is stopping me from doing what I love to do, sleep and run. If you have anything else to say please don't hezitate to write me back or E-mail me at coolcupcake_13***@**** one more thing are you actually a real doctor? Thanks for your time........Angela

Hi

Thanks for the post! How are you now?

Pain in the left side just under the rib is due to several causes. It can be due to an infection in spleen or overactive or enlarged spleen, hiatal hernia where stomach herniates into the chest cavity, abscess in spleen, acidity, reflux esophagitis, pleurisy (inflammation of the walls of the lungs) or even due to muscle pull. Left lower lobe pmeumonia and ischemia (low oxygen supply) to mesyentry of intestines and pancreatitis too can at times present with a pain in left side under the rib.

This needs a more detailed investigation. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your mother and doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining and various tests. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
