penile discharge

After my antibacterial medication for a week, i have undergone Gram Stain Test of my seminal fluid a week ago and it's result marked Pus Cells- few and other entries below it- none.. Other remarks also indicated - no organism found. With this, my doctor told me i was clear from STD already.. and told me not to take alcohol for several days. after 6 days, i have my first alcohol intake and the day after, i was shocked to find out, i have this penile discharge again. and there is a slight burning sensation when i'm urinating. i have no fever or so. What is the most possible medical explanation why i'm experiencing this symptoms again? Why do the Gram Stain Test gave negative results for an STD if i still have it? Should i totally quit drinking or just lessen my alcohol intake? I hope you can help deal with this matter. Thanks a lot and more power!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Penile discharge is usually a sign of infection. Alcohol can aggravate any infection. There could be some lingering infection. It would be best to get a culture done. If there is a growth then this can be treated. Other than this, if alcohol is aggravating the discharge, get your blood sugar and liver enzyme tested. Please discuss with your doctor. Whether you can take alcohol or not or need only to reduce the intake will depend on the results of these tests.
Take care!

Taking another dose will only (if there is in fact an infection any where) will not only kill the bad bacteria but also the good. Pretty much you leave your self open to getting (if you had one) that infection again and again. and hope you dont get some other bacteria infection. it would suck if you caught somrthing because you had no good bacteria in your body to fight for you. Replenish your good bacteria by going and getting your self some acidophiles, its cheap and everyone should take it after a treatment of antibiotics. keep me posted. Let me know if how it went.
again good luck.

Sometimes an infection can come back after antibiotic treatment. You may need another round of antibiotics or even a different kind. It's also possible that you have another kind of infection, such as a bladder or urinary tract infection (alcohol can worsen these).
