Thank you all for your response!! The patient is 4 1/2, nothing but CBC, comp, and Oxcarbazepine levels were done. All were fine. I am not sure what the comp levels are but I am aware of what the CBC and oxcarbazepine are for. If it were lukemia wouldn't the WBC be high? I have joint problems my self and have been tested for lupus and RA, they were negative. So I don't think it would be that. Due to the fact it is mainly genetic. I did notice that when the lab drew his blood, it took about 20 minutes for the puncture to stop bleeding. Is that abnormal? When I took him to his dr. he said it was an "unspecified rash", nothing to harm him. The only other medical condition is Asthma. The other things are neurological AD/HD is diagnosed Bipolar in question - too young for diagnosis. He is currently taking Intunive 1 mg and the Trileptol was D/Ced. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Petechiae can result from autoimmune disorders, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, bone marrow disorders such as leukemia, inflammation of the veins, as a side effect of certain medications. Please discuss this with his doctor and show him the rash. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Take care!
Might be a bleeding disorder like Von Willebrand's or hemophilia. PT, INR labs would be useful and maybe a hematologist visit might be a good idea.
How old is the patient?
Any coagulation labs done?
Liver panel done?
Any other medical conditions?
