pituitary adenoma

For the past two years I have been having very awkward sensations , high FSH, low prolactin and my menstrual cycle stopped. The gynae i went to first, which is two years ago told me it was early menopause so i was put on the pill to prevent me from getting pregnant. A few months later i repeated the hormonal profile and again my FSH was very high. This time i went to another gynae who also said it was early menopause. She prescribed HRT but i was not convinced and never took them. My symptoms were , no cycle and i was getting hot flushes and when i woke up in the morning i would feel a flow of blood in my body...very strange feeling. I am also hypothyroid. After several tests and medical visits my endocrinologist told me to go for an MRI and i have been diagnosed with a microadenoma on the anterior pituitary gland. I should be seeing my endocrinologist soon.
Has anyone experienced the same thing and what treatment is required. Does this mean i am and will remain infertile?

Hello,

You seem to be having a hormone secreting pituitary microadenoma(less than 10 mm in size). In this women may present with amenorrhea and a mismatch between hormone levels.Treatment options include drug therapy, surgery (removing the microadenoma in an operation) or radiation therapy (using high-dose x-rays to kill microadenoma cells). Endocrinologic consultation is advisable if clinical evidence of hormone secretion or deficiency exists.

Tumours which secrete FSH or LSH are very rare and are likely to cause infertility.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.

Hi SILVER ! sorry to hear that you experienced that..how are you doing right now??

For me, its been a very long journey in this ttc almost 7yrs..at last my RE told me the truth, nothing but the truth..well she had conclude that based from all the series of tests/ultrasound/injectibles..huh!maybe the real thing is......its really very difficult for me to be pregnant coz my FSH also high fr.4.26 to 11.9..w/c is reallyvery high..my RE told me that it only means that i have no eggs left in my ovaries that only  match also to my u/s that shows small ovaries..in short im pre menopausal already..hu!hu!hu!

Thats the answer to my questions why..
-i got my period at the age of 17yo,,very late
-i have irregular periods,
-my ovaries are very small at the of age of 33
-poor/or no response to clomid..Gonal f...
-infertility for almost 7yrs

As of now im on Duphaston pill for 2 mos to induce menstruation, and after wards my RE had plan to repeat another FSH to check again my ovarian reserved...try and try..still hoping even if my RE has been very honest to us that maybe i have no eggs left..still hoping for miracle..i know with GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! We are still trusting the LORD w/ all our hearts and lean not on our OWN HUMAN UNDERSTANDING!

GODBLESS US ALL
