so hyperhydrating with IV fluids can decrease the hyperviscosity instead of plasmapharesis?
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Plasmapheresis and hyper-hydrating are the emergency measures to control hyperviscosity. Of the two, plasmapheresis is done on a regular basis and is often repeated. However, for long term cure, the underlying protein abnormality and problems with bone marrow and cells of the blood, liver and spleen problems affecting the cell counts etc will have to be addressed and treated. A hematologist can guide you best. Take care!
