plavix and aspirin combination

My father, who is 62 years old, had a brain stroke 3.5 years ago. He recovered well with minor consequences and he takes daily doses of plavix + aspirin (100mg). Two years ago, he operated an aneurisms of the abdominal aorta and one of the carotid arteries (it was 90% clogged). Both surgeries went well. The other carotid is 50% clogged and it was recommended not to be operated. Is there any harm taking Plavix and aspirin for such a long time? It seems that there is an insufficient data since Plavix is relatively new on the market. However, all opinions and experiences are welcome.

Thank you.

I take Plavix and Aspirin together, have had a recent heart attack is why I take it. My doc prescribed the low dose aspirin 81 mg. I haven't had any problems so far, don't know about long-term yet.

Considering the problems your Dad has had, it seems that the benefit would outweigh any potential risks.
