please help me :(

by justliveyalife, Apr 07, 2009 09:27AM
Okay, so...I have had some strange, unexplained symptoms since November and I am really at my ends of trying to deal with these problems will trying to juggle college and work and just wanting to be my old "normal" 21 year old self. I am slightly overweight (barely), and I used to be pretty healthy/fit...now I don't exercise as much -- but still do as much as I can  (due to fatigue and joint pain). I don't drink and I don't smoke. I also eat pretty healthy (especially for a college student)

Muscle aches
Sporatic Joint pain - mostly all joints - most severe in knees (it moves around...one day my wrists will hurt and last for 3 - 4 days, then my elbows will hurt. it's also symmetric pain usually)
SEVERE fatigue
Aches/feeling of uncomfort all over
Muscle twitching (have had my whole life, but I notice more now) - all over my body
Sick a lot - i.e. laringytis, UTI, bad cold, gastroenteritis (bad enough to put me in the hospital)
dry eyes
sweating at night
dry mouth
horrible heartburn

My ANA was tested in November--was negative (along with rheumatoid factor and other autoimmune things), in December it was 1:640 homogeneous, in February it was negative again.

Does anybody have any possible ideas?

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Dry eyes, dry mouth, joint pains and fatigue—you must look at Sjogren’s syndrome. For more deails please read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sj%C3%B6gren's_syndrome
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor regarding this. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I went to the rheumatologist and was tested for my ANA again and the specific antibodies for Lupus and Sjogren's Syndrome. Both came back negative with "no evidence of lupus or sjogren's." I am going back again in 2 months for another appointment.

Forgot to add...lately I have been having problems when I sneeze I pee a little bit. I've never had this before now, and when I googled it...the main thing that came up was pregnancy. I'm not pregnant, so I am confused as to why all of a sudden this happens. It's happened a lot lately. Sometimes it happens when I cough too.

Hi
Thanks for the update!
What you have is probably stress incontinence. There are many causes including fibroids. A heavier uterus presses on the pelvic floor making the pelvic floor weak. Hence the urinary bladder sags and causes this problem. You can read more about stress incontinence on the following link: http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/uiwomen/index.htm
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
