please help

I have a swelling problem. It started mild in my face area about three years ago. I started down by my mouth and over time has moved up my face to my head and now my spine. It doesnt look like hives but more like its under the skin. It will last all night and be gone in the morning. but it is still sore for a day or two. Recently if I cry, really cry, My eye will swell. It strarts as a small bump but over about twenty mins. it gets big. What is this

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If along with swelling you have discomfort opening your mouth or while chewing, then the swelling could be due to TMJ. Other possibilities are dental infection, cellulitis, lymphedema (due to faulty lymph channel), sinusitis affecting the maxillary or cheek bone, or a deep seated cyst. Please consult a dentist to rule out TMJ and dental problems. You may then need to consult a PCP to rule out other causes. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining the swelling.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
