popping sensation and chronic pain above right rib

popping sensation and chronic pain above right rib

For about 6 months now I have had a popping sensation above my right rib(right below my sternum)which happens whenever I flex my abdomen up and down (and sometimes whenever I just breath) I also have constant pain in that area and it feels as if something may be there. It hurts to push on the area and the only thing that seems to help is when I pull the skin and muscle of that area away from my ribs. I have had all kinds of tests (bone scans, ultrasounds, liver and gallbladder tests, tests for hernia's, cysts, etc.) all of which have come back ok. I want to believe that it may be something to do with either the tendons or the muscle in that area but I don't know. This is beginning to wear on me, I feel fatigued all of the time and if I'm not sitting up straight I am constantly in pain.

Please help

Sounds like you could have costochondritis. I've had this and it is very painful.

I've found icing the area for 20 minutes 3-4 times a day and taking Motrin helps.
