pulsating neck glands

by jimmy107, Nov 08, 2009 08:32PM
The glands on my neck just under my jaw line are visibly pulsating on both sides. I have seen plenty of posts about swollen glands but not about pulsating ones. Would the pulsating possibly be a sign of infection like swollen glands are? Any help with this would be great.

Sounds like you are describing your carotid arteries, both of which can have a strong pulse in them when functioning to their full capacity.  Some people take their pulse at the carotid, but in nursing school, I had an instructor who discouraged it, because it sometimes (particularly I think in the elderly) can cause a stroke if it is pressed on too hard.

Thanks for your input. I'm off to the doctor next week anyway but just wanted to get some feedback.
