rib pain and trouble breathing

About a week ago I fell on some brick sidewalk. Ever since then it has hurt really bad on my left side. I am female by the way and I have huge black and bluishpurple bruises on my breasts. The pain is not getting better even though the bruises are fading some. However I want to know if a hurt or bruised rib can cause gas and diarria. Im sure alot of you are laughing but its not funny and I dont want to hear go to the doctor, all they do is charge a **** load of money for nothing. Thanks to those who actually can or want to help.

sounds like either bruised or cracked ribs (ive had both in the past) shortness of breath isnt a good thing, rib shards could have damaged your lungs and even your intestines (us ladies have our guts up a bit higher than most guys) a perforation in your guts can deff cause gas and the skitters. forget the doc go to the ER, a hole in the bowls can cause some nasty toxic backlash, and at the very least they will wrap up your ribs.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The bruised rib, sides of the abdomen and breast cannot cause acidity and diarrhea, but probably the painkillers you took to overcome the pain may have caused this. Stop all painkillers and see if it helps. Also take an antacid gel or a proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole and see. In all probability this will help. Apply warm compress and local analgesic cream over the bruised area. If symptoms persist consult an orthopedic specialist.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I'm not sure if such a blow can cause gas. It doesn't seem possible, but I may be missing something.

Falls that impact the ribs are trouble city.

The good news is that they eventually heal by themselves.

The bad news is that sometimes it takes a year.

Yuch!

In addition to rib damage a fall can damage the cartilige, which does not heal well.

Ibuprufin is the only treatment.
