three weeks ago i started having bad pain to the right side of my belly button
my doctor sent me for a cat scan then i was admitted to the hospital they said i had appendicitis and a bad gallbladder a surgeon came in and said i was ok just needed my gallbladder removed sometime. i went home after 2 days of nothing being done. i really dont feel like its my gallbladder since this is almost always there pain no worse after i eat but no better i eat fine
but still having the pain 3 weeks later it feels like contractions on the right of the belly button. my bowels are fine i do get dizzy and feel nausea at times
i am 44 female they want to take out the gallbladder in 2 weeks from now
i am scared of going under i am on heart medicines for a-fib. the surgeon hardly listened to me tell him my symptoms and he never even felt my belly just went from what the report of the cat scan said

An enlarged liver can cause a lot of pain by pressing on surrounding tissue. The liver itself does not have a lot of feeling in it, but referred pain can be a real beast, and hard to trace. Are you changing your diet at all to try to improve your liver health?

RIGHT BEFORE I HAD MY GALLBLADDER OUT IN 1998 I GOT THIS PAIN UNDER MY RIGHT FRONT RIB.  THE SURGEON TRIED TELLING ME THAT MAYBE MY COLON MOVED UP UNDER MY RIBCAGE SINCE MY GALLBLADDER WASNT THERE ANYMORE.  HOW COULD THAT BE IF IT STARTED BEFORE THEN?  SINCE THEN IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND IS UNDER THE LEFT AND RIGHT RIBS, ALTHO THE RIGHT SIDE IS WORSE.  IT FEELS LIKE BASEBALLS UNDER THERE AND MY RIBS HURT ALL THE TIME.  I CANT FEEL THEM BY TOUCHING THEM WITH MY HANDS BUT I SURE KNOW THEY ARE THERE.  I'VE HAD A CAT SCAN DONE AND THAT IS NORMAL.  MY DOCTOR SAYS IT COULD BE NERVE AND MUSCLE DAMAGE DUE TO MY DIABETES.  I TELL YA, THE PAIN WEARS ME DOWN.  SOMETIMES I HAVE TO SIT AT A RECLINING SLANT TO GET THE PRESSURE OUT FROM UNDER MY RIBS.  SOMETIMES THE PAIN TRAVELS TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY LOWER ABDOMEN TOO.  I'M SO FED UP WITH DOCTORS BECAUSE THEY ARE SO MUCH OF A HURRY TO GET YOU IN AND OUT OF THE OFFICE FOR THAT ALMIGHTY DOLLAR.  THESE TESTS ARE EXPENSIVE, IN THE THOUSANDS.  I JUST HAD A GASTROSCOPY DONE THINKING MAYBE I HAD A HIATAL HERNIA BUT ALL I HAVE IS GERD CAUSED BY MY REFLUX.  I ALREADY KNEW THAT.  I'M SO DISCOURAGED.  IT COULD BE BECAUSE OF MY LARGE FATTY LIVER OR IT COULD BE A SLOW MOVING COLON DUE TO LACK OF MUSCLE CONTROL.  WHO KNOWS?  ANY HELP OUT THERE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION WOULD BE GREAT.  MAYBE I SHOULD GO TO THE MAYO CLINIC SINCE I LIVE SO CLOSE TO IT.  I FEEL BAD FOR ALL OF YOU OUT THERE BECAUSE GOD DOESNT LIKE US TO SUFFER.  HE WANTS US TO BE WHOLE.  THE ONLY ADVICE I HAVE IS TO PRAY.  GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Lay on your back, and put your fingers just under the edge of your right ribcage about in line with your breast. Press in just slightly, and inhale. Does it hurt right there when you inhale? If it does, it is almost surely your gallbladder. This is called Murphy's Sign. If it does not hurt, it could still be your gallbladder, but it would definately be a good idea to get a 2nd opinion before you have surgery. If you do not like the Dr. don't use him. There are usualy many to choose from, even if you have to use a different hospital. Have you had a HIDA-Scan? This shows whether or not your gallbladder functions properly.
